Biometric devices identify users by a numeric PIN / User ID, not by email. HelloHRMS needs an explicit mapping to know which employee each punch belongs to.

List PINs on the device
On the terminal, open User Management and export or note each User ID and employee name enrolled locally.

Open device mappings in HelloHRMS
Resources → Attendance → Devices tab → select your device → Employee Mappings section.

Add mapping rows
For each device user, enter Device User ID (PIN) and select the matching HelloHRMS employee from the dropdown. Save each mapping.

Handle duplicates and changes
If an employee re-enrolls with a new PIN, update the mapping — old PIN punches will not attach automatically. Remove mappings for ex-employees to avoid mis-attribution.

Backfill unmapped punches
After fixing mappings, new punches attach immediately. Historical unmapped punches may need manual attendance correction for past dates.
